Entries now open for Head On photo awards

The prestigious Head On photo awards are now open for entries for the 2017 edition.

There are four categories to choose from: Portrait, landscape, mobile and student (school years K-12).

Over the last 13 years, Head On has handed out $500,000 in prizes. The value of the prizes on offer for 2017 is $50,000, with almost half that figure in cash prizes - the full range of prizes for 2017 is yet to be announced.

Finalists in the mobile, student and portrait categories will be exhibited at the Museum of Sydney, while finalists in the landscape category will be exhibited at New South Wales Parliament.

The judging panel include renowned photographers, curators and editors, including Dean Sewell, Maggie Steber and Simon Harsent among others.

"Head On Photo Festival is a great opportunity to experience the world through other people's eyes. Hundreds of artists communicating through visual imagery, thousands of stories and ideas from around the world," Festival Director Moshe Rosenzveig told Fairfax Media.
